LineWatch Privacy Policy

LineWatch is built so that there is very little about you to collect. There is no account, no sign-up, and no name, email address or phone number attached to anything you do in the app.

What we collect

• A random device identifier. Generated on your device the first time you open the app. It is not your Apple ID, your advertising identifier, or anything that identifies you personally. It exists so the server can rate-limit reports and know which reminders belong to which installation. Deleting the app discards it.
• Crossing durations you contribute. If you turn on automatic timing, the app measures how many minutes your crossing took and sends that number, the crossing, and the lane. It does not send your route, your coordinates, or where you started.
• Condition reports you tap. Which crossing, which preset (long wait, moving well, lane closed, accident, extra lane open), and when.
• Your settings, if you use reminders. The crossings and lanes you picked, your alert thresholds and departure times, your time zone offset, your language, and whether your subscription is active — so reminders can be sent at the right time in the right language.
• A push token, if you allow notifications, so alerts can be delivered when the app is closed.

What we do not collect

• No location history, no route, no coordinates. Automatic timing runs entirely on your device using a zone around the crossing; only the resulting number of minutes is sent.
• No name, email, phone number, or account of any kind.
• No advertising identifiers. There are no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
• No payment details. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your card or your Apple ID.

Where your data goes

• Our server stores the items listed above.
• Apple processes subscription purchases and delivers push notifications.
• Google (Gemini) generates the short written tips shown in the app. Only a handful of numbers — current wait times for a crossing and typical waits for the coming hours — are sent. No device identifier, no personal data, and nothing about you is included.
• We do not sell your data, and there is nothing personal in it to sell.

Location

The app asks for location only while you are using it, and only for things you asked it to do: listing the crossings nearest you, ranking crossings by drive time, and timing a crossing if you enabled that. Your position is used on the device and is not stored on our server.

Keeping and deleting data

Contributed crossing times and condition reports are kept as aggregate history so predictions improve; they are not linked to anything identifying you. Deleting LineWatch removes the device identifier, so the installation can no longer be associated with any future activity. To have data associated with your installation removed sooner, email [email protected].

Children

LineWatch is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
